Quarter-finals
Venue / Stadium
Shizuoka / Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa
Referee
Felipe RAMOS RIZO (MEX)
It doesn't get much more prestigious than this. England, the inventors of football, against Brazil, the kings of football. This quarter-final of the 2002 World Cup is undisputably a classic match. It features a young Ronaldinho, an experienced Rivaldo and a refreshed Ronaldo who's just receovered from a traumatic injury. England too can field a team of class players. Even so, the English have never yet beaten Brazil in a World Cup. Could this be the first time? The Three Lions did after all beat Argentina in the groups...

Line-ups:

England
Seaman -- Mills, Campbell, Ferdinand, Ashley Cole -- Beckham, Scholes, Butt, Sinclair -- Owen, Heskey.
Coach: Sven-Goran Eriksen

Brazil
Marcos -- Roque Junior, Lucio, Edmilson -- Cafu, Gilberto, Ronaldinho, Kleberson, Roberto Carlos -- Ronaldo, Rivaldo.
Coach: Felipe Scolari Goals scored Michael OWEN (ENG) 23', RIVALDO (BRA) 45'+2, RONALDINHO (BRA) 50'
