Don't miss the seventh "Salute to Heroes" coming Thursday, June 23, to the Crystal Ballroom at South Shore Harbor Hotel and Resort, from 6-9 p.m.

This is certainly a heartwarming event that honors our United States Military who have served, or are serving this great country. A fundraiser held annually, The "Salute to Heroes" is the only fundraiser held each year to support the Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation. This special foundation has created over $90,000 in scholarships for students at Clear Creek Independent School District! SPC Ray Joseph Hutchinson, born and raised in League City, was killed in action while serving on the battlefield in Iraq. He was a member of the elite fighting forces of the 101'st Army Airborne (Air Assault) Division. Hutchinson's family formed this foundation in his name in 2007, which has helped to send students to leading universities all over America. www.rjhfoundation.org

"Salute to Heroes" at South Shore Harbor will include dinner, silent and live auctions, raffle prizes, and a short program that commemorates our military.

Tickets for "Salute to Heroes" are $25 in advance, or $30 at the door. They may be purchased by calling: Black Rose Steel & Trading at 281-332-7673 or by calling:
Michael Hutchinson at 713-202-785.

Listen in as Talk of the Bay visits with Alex Mazoch, a Ray Joseph Hutchinson scholarship recipient.

Hero Paintings
Deborah Melchin Hutchinson has completed another series of Hero Paintings that will be featured in the silent auction. Hero Paintings is a beautiful collection of artwork truly honoring our service men and women; each depicts an anonymous Hero who is serving our country. Deborah paints them in loving memory, of her son, SPC Ray Joseph Hutchinson; her inspiration comes from a collection of military photos, some of which were on Ray Joseph's camera.

Texas Fallen Heroes
This year "Salute to Heroes" is proud to include the display of the "Texas Fallen Heroes Memorial", which will be set up in the Crystal Ballroom. This beautiful memorial wall reveals the individual faces of our Texas Fallen Heroes who have paid the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefield; a memorial truly moving to see.

The organizers of the "Texas Fallen Heroes Memorial" consist of a group of retired Marines, led by Robert (Gunny) Hiles. Gunny and his team of retired Marines bring the "Texas Fallen Heroes Memorial" to "Salute to Heroes" this year so everyone will always remember the cost of Freedom, and be grateful to those who gave everything to preserve it.

In the words of General George S. Patton Jr., "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died; rather we should thank God that such men lived."

Many thanks to South Shore Grille, Steel Traders, Black Rose Steel and Hometown Bank and all of our other sponsors for your continued support.
