The very first person to sing this song was Pastor Franklin Walden Sr. Joyce and Colbert Croft wrote the song, and they were good friends of his, and they let him sing it. It's on two of his song albums. There's even a version sung by his song Franklin Walden Jr. My mom worked for Franklin Sr. for 15 years. I had been attending his church in Conyers, GA since I was 5. And I'd known him since then. He was like a father to me. Unfortunately, Franklin Sr. passed away last August.
