CAPN Digital Rocketry is pleased to introduce another successful day of model rocket launches concluding with the premier of the ant-scale (18 inches tall) Dr. Zooch designed Saturn V. I designed and built the scaled Launch tower and base from cardstock paper.

We introduced several new Estes models into the fleet as well including: "Little Joe" the Estes 220 Swift (the smallest one they make), the "Giant Pencil" Sky Writer, an original Wizard (23 year old rocket restored for a return to flight) and a new Wizard model.

The Saturn V was designed by Wes Oleszewski. He has some other great historic scale flying models, you can check them out at: www.drzooch.com
Thanks for a great little scale of this famous moon rocket, Wes!

The video features multiple camera angles (including 2 HDV Hi-Def cameras) and slow motion replays plus some great photos taken at the launch site.

Video equipment and editing software (Vegas 7.0) by Sony.
Photo equipment by Nikon.
Photos by Rachael Ponds.

Enjoy the video...
We are go for Launch !!!!!!!

  • what type of lunch rod did you use on the saturn?

  • @NinjaAlien100

That's a standard Estes Porta-Pad launch rod. The paper model LUT and Launch Platform are just positioned on top of the Porta Pad for the "look" of an actual Saturn V launch complex.

  • Nice video! Congratulations. What engine did you use for the Saturn V? Its a single engine, right?

  • @roberteden

Yes, standard Estes model rocket engines (B & C types) will power the Dr. Zooch Saturn V.

  • I enjoyed every second of this vid. Very well done!

  • @Toppervision1

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!!!

  • AMAZING Video! It brought back great childhood memories as I build and launched MANY of the rockets featured here. Alas, the Saturn V has still been a dream of mine. Nice to see a fellow dork who really knows how to shoot, and cut a PROPER model rocket video! Well done, and kudos to all involved!

  • @FanRantProduction

We're glad you enjoyed the video. Model rocketry can be quite rewarding for yound and old and we felt the majestic Saturn V deserved a majestic video.

    Thanks for the comments.
