Whitman student Aisha Fukushima talks about "Core", Whitman's two-semester Antiquity and Modernity class.
Core provides a two-semester exploration of the formation and transformation of some western world views (ways of understanding nature, society, the self, and the transcendent). General Studies 245, Critical and Alternative Voices, is an optional one-semester extension of the First-Year Core which calls into question the "dominance" of traditional western world views. The Distribution Requirements are intended as a means of achieving breadth and perspective by sampling disparate areas of knowledge and ways of knowing.
woot! Aisha!!!!
