Confined Space Welding Explosion

My prayers to his fam ... I almost died welding but it was the ungrounded temp power that caused me to ground out ..I'm so happy to go home everday now an live my life to the fullest.. To set everyone straight for once and for all.

Did he die? Sadly yes.

Was he welding or cutting? Neither he was using a process commonly know as "lancing".

He was freeing up a jammed tooth and they usually just "pop" on a crusher but this piece shot off from the force and went through his chest - he sadly had no chance :(

How do I know? I worked for the shop and after this happened the owner himself does all the lancing from now on. He was young (21) and died instantly. My regards to his f

@MrWebsie Ain't that the truth.Try telling the yard head that you need him to shut down some overhead lines (running product so rocks wont be rainin down on you) while you fix a cone crusher or someting else.You get a fix it or leave we ain't shutting nothing down. My fav. was patching chutes ( inside the chute no outside access), underneath the mill that seperates rock to run to smaller crushers, in a fucking thunder storm.

That Orange thing wasnt his head -_- First of all, human body parts dont glow blazing orange like that when they heat up to that point, it would burn to ashes if anything. Secondly, a blast like that wouldn't pull his head off his neck sending the head flying in one peice. That impact would have exploded his head. I hate to go into detail like that, but you clearly do not know what you are talking about, nor does your welding teacher. That orange glowing thing was a piece of metal.

@treblemc you have obviously never worked for a large company that requires jobs like this done fast, i know there are rules in place for such things, but where lost money is concerned, and as most companies call it DOWN TIME, iv seen so many guys do jobs that they just should never of been asked to do! try telling the owner of a rock crusher thats loosing $85000 an hour your just popping over to the work shop to get the ventalation equipment, AAhh no your not!! get that fucking thing running!!!
