The Healthcare Insurances policy is the same as any other insurance's one and I believe this is the root of the question. Insurance are companies like any others, they try to make profit. However, their customers are persons with Health issues and we shouldn't let the Health being a product like any other. Life and Death shouldn't be regarded as merchandises and Health Insurance shouldn't be called Insurance but Health Protection, the whole logic is the problem

great video. in answer to your questions you got screwed. united health care is a prime example of exactly what you are talking about. my wife has breast cancer and over the past 10 years its a "constant battle" over who gets what amount of money and paid to whom. i have 10 years of records to prove just how fucked up the healthcare system is. bottom line, until congress removes profit and greed from the healthcare industry our current system will never improve.

I just wrote a letter to my congressman, urging him to improve our health system, and I haven't lived in the US for 4 years (though still a US citizen). If I can do something, so can you. If you walk out Sicko hoping that you'll get better health care, but then do nothing, then you will have wasted the momentum created by this film. You must act now if you want change!

I think Sicko was awesome and ty to MM. I'm not sticking up for the ins. comps here, just want ppl to take some responsibility when it comes to finding out what's covered and/or how much will be covered. Policies are governed by the Feds & States so some of that stuff has to be put in there, unfortunately. If you work for a comp. that's doing self-insure, they can pretty much do whatever they want with policy changes & it sucks!

You have to have a degree in policy deciphering, not to mention policies change all the time, and half the people you talk to on the phone can't explain it either.

I have witnessed really bad management when it comes to HMO policies and getting answers from the people you talk to on the phone.

It will be an extremely hard battle fighting the big insurance machine that has great lobbying power. You have to do it one congressman and senator at a time. They don't care, since they have great health care benefits.
