Here's a quick video of the old Mirrlees in action, on the Queen of Tsawwassen. The Queen of Tsawwassen was one of the first two ferries built for the BC Ferries fleet, and is set to be retired by September 2008. She's had these old Mirrlees engines since she was built in 1960. She's a direct drive, with fixed propellars.

  • She was retired september 27 2008 with over 3.92 million mile traveled.

The engines logged over 270,000 hours.

I have cleaned heads many times.

She was one of two original boats and the last of the old ones to still be sailing.

    Started service

  • I've been on the BC ferries a total of 6 times in my life, loved the last 4 trips, and this video just answered one of my questions, too cool!!
