@ST8URCASE Well, PSU does usually contend for the Big Ten but doesn't always win. In 2006 for example change one play in the Ohio State and Michigan games and they're co-champs. Realistically most teams have a mix of rebuilding years, good years, and stellar years. Like Oklahoma for example. Contending for a national title in 2008, 7-5 in 2009, but were spanked by WVU in 2007 yet winning the Big XII. Even OSU despite winning the Big 10 most years played in two NC games since 2006 (lost both).
@MVillani1985 dont ever think i dont psu to have another year like '86.i just dont want it to happen every 5 seasons.psu doesnt have the media love affair that osu has because psu players are more business like than flash.psu has enough talent to always contend in the big ten and must go undefeated to be considered for the national title.i liked mcgloin saturday but i want that effort against osu, wisc .iowa and neb.the coaching staff has let me down the past 4 seasons in big games
@ST8URCASE You said before that Paterno is too stubborn and predictable but doesn't him finally benching Evan Lewis contradict that? Now your second point - Penn State hasn't been relavent in the Big Ten lately? What about 08 and 09? Even 06 sort of. And the national title thing is part luck. Do you remember how Ohio State got in in 07? Could have easily happened to us in 05, 08, or even 2009. My solution is watch the team grow into something good in 2011. We saw signs on Saturday of progress.
@MVillani1985 psu has and can win without cheating.paterno put the starting kicker on the bench and stefon green is on the practice squad.psu hasnt been relevant in the big ten in 5 seasons and all those teams have won national titles in the paste ten years.whats the solution for psu?psu has talent, fans travel to away games, psu games are televised and big ten teams are tough.coaching is psu's problem.paterno and the offense are predictable and this qb thing is embarassing WE ARE...!
@pp3k3jamail That's what I've been saying, Penn State is a consistent team but some people seem to want an unrealistic level of success. To these people not winning the Big Ten every year means we're a middle of the pack team like Purdue when historically we've been more like Michigan, a lot of up years with the occasional down year (usually meaning less than 9 wins).
@ST8URCASE Well, Joe is a consistent winner outside of the dark years. Tell me how many teams have had constant success? Texas? 5-7 last year. Oklahoma? 7-5 two years ago, Florida? 7-5 last year. Alabama? 6-6 three years ago. USC and Ohio State maybe, but are recruiting violations and eventually vacating half your wins down the stretch worth it? And do you really want to risk going the route Nebraska did in the 00s? The years under Callahan were pretty painful for the Huskers.
@pp3k3jamail but mcquery and jay paterno have a habit of sticking with bad qbs(morelli).mcgloin has more talent and i believe his decision making wouldimprove if he knew he would start and finish the game.hes afraid of screwing up so he screws up.bolden isnt tough.he doesnt get angry or paly with a chip on his shoulder.psu's defense is good but they weaken when their offense cant get the opponet off the field which has been the case the past four seasons. WE ARE...!
@MVillani1985 i want a coach who will win consistently.what better job than psu?this is penn state.coaches would die to have that job and would rather suffer with a new coach installing anew system than battle for mediocrity every four years to have one good season.states offense is predictable and stale.choose a qb and call plays centered on his ability.silas redd should get the ball 2 out of 4 plays from different sets.to win in the big ten theyd better be like the 08 team
LOL Temple haven't beated Penn St. since before WW2? dayum.
