People of the book (Jews & Christians) who believe in the one of Allah and do not associate Him with any partners, take Moses/Jesus (pbut) as Allah's messengers and do not insult prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in any manner are entitled to be blessed by Allah's mercy.

But the big question, how many such Jews/Christians now-a-days exists to qualify to be called as righteous?!

@xsggsx @xsggsx, they didn't literally throw it away, the committee just didn't include it because it wasn't in the earliest manuscripts, which the NRSV is supposed to be based on. Jerome in 4th century CE inserted the Greek "monogenes" in later manuscripts to end the early belief that Jesus was only a human. (Raymond Brown, The Gospel According to John, Chapter 2, Pg. 13 and Christopher Church - Holman Bible Dictionary - Broadman & Holman, 1991).
