Lloyd Webber had written the excellent 1978 BBC World Cup theme (I think it was an offcut from Evita) so the Beeb must have thought it was a safe bet

I wish presentations would become more quaint and simple like the one on offer here; all the modern material (football and any other sport for that matter) has an obsession of presenting itself like a film or pop video (you know what I mean. Hyper-kinetic editing, shaky camera, rapid zoom-in/out shots, modern music etc.). All "style", no substance. Sometimes less is more.
