Brew Dude Mike has some batch sparging tips. These tips are focused on making your target boil volume and calculating the sparge water you will need to get there. Depending on how much water you mashed with and what yield you expect to get out of your mash, your sparge water volume will vary.

  • Depending on how much heat you got underneath your kettle and how vigorous your boil is, you could be losing more to evaporation. When homebrewers say that a big part of improving your beer is getting to know your equipment, things like knowing how much flame to put towards your kettle to meet your end of boil volume is a part of that process.

  • Thanks brew dudes! I have been a little apprehensive to make the leap to all grain. Working on my kit tonight.

  • When i collect 6.5 gallons and then boil it for an hour, seems like i never have 5 plus gallons left, more like 4 , any ideas? Why? Great video by the way!!
