A camping and fishing trip taken with my Dad, and his friend Frank, from May 1969. This is a silent Super 8 Movie Film, and thus has NO AUDIO on it at all. It was filmed in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada on Memorial Day weekend (Rememberance Day in Canada). The campground was at a place called Lilac Lodge south of Bobcaygeon on the eastern side of Pigeon Lake, part of the Kawarthas Lake region. In it are pictures of the lake, fishing, Lock #32 in Bobcaygeon, which is part of the Trent-Severn Canal system. I hope you like it and please feel free to leave comments. Both my Dad and his friend have long since passed away, so it is with pleasure and pride that I submit this to YouTube for all the good times we had in that part of the world.

  • I'm glad that you liked it! As for Tom Killaby, if you check out another video from 1969, (I believe it was called Kawartha Kamping, shot in July 1969), you will see Tom riding his pony up the hill from the cottages to their house and where the gas pump was. Wish back then that Super 8 home movies had sound like cell phone cameras do now. I've been to Bobcaygeon since July 1967 during the Centennial Celebration of Canada.

  • My family and i stay at lilac lodge all the time

    Great vid

  • @evdshaw We first were there on June 29th, 1967, just before Canadas' 100th anniversary of Confederation. The last time we camped there (this was a Nimrod pop-up trailer) was 1969, just before the 1st Moon Landing. Since that time, Lilac Lodge stopped having regular tent and small trailer sites. I visited the facility late last July 2010, and met with Tom Killaby, the owner. Didn't stay long as his Mom passed away that weekend & they were off to the wake.

  • Nice, the year I was born (in the fall) and that would be a young Tom Killaby on the tractor and at 5:04 acting cool like my father does. My father would have been around 20 and no kids yet, coming up drunk on weekends to our cottage with his buddies across the street. Our families have been friends for generations. Tom still has the same pose today, LOL.

  • my family have been going to lilac since the 50s,i grew up there!
