as a saluki owner let me clear some things up for those people who obviously know very little about them. they have selective hearing but are not un-trainable, they are fine with children but must be given their own space, a space they know is theirs. they need at least a couple of hours good exercise a day (leashed at all times unless in a secure field) speaking on my dogs personal characteristics he gets on fine with my lab but not great with other smaller dogs, has joint pains (but is 12 Y.O)

These dogs are NOT friendly, probably the most aloof breed. Do not get them expecting them to be social with your family.

To actually have an on-topic comment, I'm sure I wasnt the only one who thought they railroaded this breed in this episode. Forget what was said, Saluki had almost no airtime. Nada. Like, "Well here's this breed, now on to a more important one".

And to you, I take offense at your generalization that all people on the internet are crazy. That's a pretty ignorant stereotype there, pal.
What about, "People who use shock collars are just as cruel as Vick"?
You're the type of person who walks down the street and all the parents hide their kids from you.

Let me just say this:
I hate shockers. I've worn one for a week on a bet. It was pure misery. Oh, and try standing out in the street with it going off... Yeah. I will say they work, yes. But they're really for end-game scenarios where nothing else works. Using them for normal training is almost always detrimental in some form.
As for using one on a Saluki? It's purely abusive. Flat out. Saluki are much to sensitive for that.
Hi, can I just clear up some misconceptions? I'm a muslim so I think I can help.
First off, owning a dog is by no means unclean. On the contrary, Muslims can enjoy the pleasures of dog ownership like any other person. However, the drool of the dogs themselves is considered unclean. Thats why some Muslims will shy away from them for fear of being licked. Also, unclean doesn't mean you're sinned for life, just need to wash up real good before prayer and stuff.
They're really wonderful beings.
