Hiwatt Hi-Gain 50 combo Chinese-manufacture Pt3 - Hot Pickup Hi Gain Sounds

Since there are very few if any demos of the Chinese-made version of this UK-designed Hiwatt all-tube amp I decided I'd knock one together. Recorded using a TASCAM 2488mkII HD recorder with the amp close miked using a Shure SM57. I apologise for the switches between sound quality. The narration is done using a digital camera vid function and any poor sound quality is purely the shocking camera mic. Pt1 addresses the layout and clean tones of this amp:

I know what you mean but the sounds this amp makes are affected by the volume, and it wasn't low during this recording. I pushed it to the pain threshold later on, tried a scooped tone and it changed. Through the Etone quad underneath it was different again and the blended speaker sounds were an interesting mix. Anyone buying an extension cab or 4x12 should try these with as many as they can, not just buy a Hiwatt cab. And keep in mind, this is an open back 2x12 combo.

Great amp, but you mic placement really dosen't represent the actual sound ... It's alot less "gritty"
