Discover Germany | My ... Rhine

If you ever have the chance to visit Germany,let us know. Like Gertraut McLaren from Canada,we'll join you and look forward to your report on your destination.Gertraut McLaren comes from Vienna and emigrated to Canada in 1963. Last summer she came to Europe and took a trip on the Amadeus Princess 22 via the rivers Rhine and Danube from Amsterdam to the Black Sea. Discover Germany went on board and travelled as far as Rudesheim.

This stretch of the journey,called the Middle Rhine,has been part of UNESCO's World Cultural heritage since 2002. The landscape,vineyards,old castles and small villages are among the most beautiful in Europe. It also inspired the German poet Heinrich Heine to write his famous song to the Loreley,one of the most famous poems in German literature.
According to legend,the Loreley was a blond beauty who sat on a cliff above the Rhine,luring sailors to certain death on the rocks below with her songs. Rhine ships and treasure are said to lie on the river bed.
One highlight of Gertraut McLaren's Rhine journey was passing by the Loreley rock,after seeing other historical sites like Marksburg,the only medieval hill castle never to be destroyed,and Stahleck Castle,now a youth hostel.

After doing genealogical research,i like most American's find the majority of my ancestors are from Germany.I've located the towns they lived in and am searching for vids of these locations.Hopefully your videos will help.Ty for posting.
