This is the first cake we made in course one. We learned how to transfer patterns and basic skills. In this course you learn to perfect icing consistency, how to make buttercream, and become familiar with basic borders and tips.
I forgot I had to thin down my icing to ice the cake. What happened? The stiff icing was so heavy it would slide off the cake!!! I had to put it in the fridge until it was ready to eat. This one did not taste good at all!!

i think this cake is excellent. Absolutely! I hope my first cake is as good too. I dont know if you still make cakes or if youve got even better but one tip i just saw on a professional site by a cake artist was: when making square cakes, always cut the sides even if they dont need it. it makes for a nice neat cake after being frosted.
