The US has made an eleventh hour plea to Britain to think carefully about the impact of defence cuts on the NATO alliance.
It comes as the MoD is accused of wasting billions of taxpayers money.
Today the Foreign Secretary William Hague will set out the national security strategy that will underpin defence spending for the next five years. Tomorrow the Prime Minister will tell the armed forces the hard choices he's made and where the axe will fall. It will be the biggest shake-up of the armed forces for 12 years.
