Mattels' Flying Aces and launch deck from 1978. There was also a Aircraft carrier that launched WW2 era Corsair fighter planes.

  • The better launch system is the console launcher, I will be profiling the setup on my channel probably in a few months.

Some may not know this, but Mattel brought this back about 10 years ago under the Hot Wheels brand, believe it or not. The launcher was gun shaped. The planes were made out of the same material as before, and worked reasonably well. I have both sets.

  • Wanted one of these soooooooo bad when I was a kid. Sadly, never got one....

  • @evilrubberducky1 i have this toy im thinking about selling but im looking for its value

  • Who needs a toy you have to chase down the street? Can get the same satisfaction playing Xbox.

I mean..why have to exercise like that?

  • Eimb1999, Thanks for the name. I'll have to try and track one down one day.

  • Yeah, they flew as good as they looked alright. The best loking one was the F-5 jet, it flew the best. The Corsairs looked like crap and flew accordingly! If you REALLY tweaked them you could get them to fly reasonably well by hand launching, but not from the toy launchers. I'd love the job of redesigning them to work as they should have. Hey Mattel! Willya think about it? I'll offer my services. I know how to do that kinda stuff. :-) The Flying Aces is a toy that could be rejuvenated ....

  • @JDMbyBlood : "The Flying Aces Attack Carrier" Came with 2 corsairs, but they were difficult to get to fly right. The ship was huge. I still have one. I have I think all the Flying Aces planes. The best flying one is the Canadian jet...

The thing is, if someone were to re-design the planes and make them from the same material but use today's technology, it's possible to make the planes look and fly a LOT better than those old toys.

  • Wish I could get my hands on some of these !!!

  • I also had the carrier when I was a kid. Anybody remember the name of it??

  • This is one toy from my childhood that I would LOVE to find again. These planes flew so nicely, they were basically indestructable, and they had so many to choose from (modern and WWII era).
