@joeledels by the sounds of things society seems to be about everything, how can we determine what is important? all i can see is that it just makes us ASK MORE QUESTIONS that never get answered, or get swept under the rug?

Awesome slideshow for Sociology. It did the one thing I think is the most important. It made me have hundreds of questions just from a single photo(slide).

@joeledels I'm studiyng sociology and I think there are a lot of politically correct in this discipline. Poverty and racism will always exist. It's better to study sociology to make better the own society, not all the word and third word that is impossible.

Also sociology studies all aspects of society (including poverty both American and "third world"). Racism is also an important are of study. What do you think sociology is about?

why these images and quotation are referred to sociology? Sociology is the science that studies society and its mechanics, not utopical solution of social problems like third world's poverty, global pollution or racism

What is the point of studying society and its evolution if we do not do anything about the inequalities, oppression, racism and destruction? Why go out to understand something if we do nothing to improve it? Maybe if more people aimed for a utopian solution to global problems the world and the people in it, would be far happier and healthier. I do agree however, that while this presentation shows a diverse social life it offers no solution utopian or otherwise.

@catmacspi I don't disagree with you on this. I've thought about this a lot and don't feel that the complexity of society, and subsequently social problems can be solved or even begin to be solved in a 4 minute montage. The montage is to serve as a mechanism for consciousness raising, fundamentally the first step in solving social problems. I think solutions are necessary but without examination of the problems we cannot begin to discuss solutions.
