Of all the bands playing a tthe roxy in this era i'd say the two that routinely drew the most buzz were jane's addiction, and guns n roses.

I was 3 going on 4 in November of this year and by 1990 I was a full blown guns n roses fan and metallica fan, along with others like megadeth and all the other good stuff.
