@doggieyo let me clarify that i have had dogs in the past. many dogs. if you get a dog, get a mutt, they're much more intelligent and friendly than pedigrees. not to mention healthier.

@doggieyo I have rats and no dog (I don't have the space and budget for a dog right now :( ) and I have to say dogs are better. Rats are great pets, though. They're really friendly. As far as more or less intelligent goes, it's hard to say. Dogs have a better synergy with human intelligence. If you measure on the ability to learn some dogs are smarter than rats and some are dumber. Rats have a different kind of intelligence and have meta cognition, which dogs don't have.
