Believe it or not, there are actually trees and bikes in L.A. Check them out at the L.A. River and head back to the city for a bite.

You have OBVIOLUSLY never been to this section of the river. AGAIN, you seem to be missing the point. You havent even watched/listened to this video have you? Male prostitutes? At the Glendale Narrows? Im sure you know where to find alot of them, but Ive never seen them. AGAIN-YOU ARE MISSING THE ENTIRE POINT. I have a strong feeling that your expeirence in this area is VERY limited.

@VoodooPolitico What is pretty strange are people who want to spend time in a gang graffiti covered, concrete ditch full of trash, bums, male prostitutes and street runoff, lined with power lines and traffic bridges. More power to you, but the place is an eyesore if you are really looking around. How sad that you think that is a nice place to be. It's just so bizarre.... and typical LA/Hollywood nuttiness.

@TheBaconheart With proper runoff management letting tree's grow back in some sections of the river isnt a problem. This has been studied and researched for years.

BESIDES, in the areas where they are encouraging this, its a soft bottom and not concrete. There always has been trees and foliage there. They are just wanting to enhance it. FOR THE MOST PART, the enhancements are taking place on the banks not IN the river itself. RELAX...your HATRED of the LA river is pretty strange.

@TheBaconheart You dont seem to get it. Its the LA river. Los Angeles River. Nobody is expecting to go fly fishing in the LA river. But its HERE. IN Los Angeles. Not up Azusa Canyon. Its what we have to work with. So WHY NOT put in pocket parks? WHY NOT do things to encourage wildlife to return? WHY NOT have nice bike paths? WHY NOT allow parts of it to return to its natural state as much as possible? WHY are you so angry about it? Why would you call people "losers" who want to enjoy it?

Btw, yes I do live in Los Angeles but I have never considered the "LA river" a natural place to enjoy. Like I said, drive up the Kern river (the flows this season are remarkable). But really, if you want to see a river near LA you could also drive up Azusa canyon on the San Gabriel river. There are many trails and many places to fish. The fly fishing is actually very good if you hike far enough away from the knuckleheads. The LA river is only a gutter.

@VoodooPolitico It was a natural river however we have unnaturally built up a large city and many homes around it as well as diverted street run off into it for decades. The San Gabriel River could actually be more of a 'natural river' but the same circumstances exist there. Back in the 1930s there were enormous floods and many people lost their lives. As a result these urban rivers were paved and managed for flood control reasons. The trees need to be removed again for safety.

@TheBaconheart It IS a natural river. It always has been. To keep it from deviating its course as LA was built up along it, the Army Corps Of Engineers paved it. Living in LA, it IS a great place to enjoy. Wildlife is returning in greater numbers allthe time as parts of the river are allowed to grow back. The bike path and pocket parks are nice. I live in LA. I dont live near the Kern river. I havent been out there since I was a kid. You arent from LA are you?

@VoodooPolitico For Gods sake it just a damn gutter you stupid people. I can't wait until the first '100 year flood ' comes along and those trees and other CRAP pile up and block the flow and then flood neighborhoods and kill people. Only the stupidest city fools would think this is some "natural space" to go down into and enjoy. Its full of plastic bags, feces and bums. Try driving a few hours to a real natural river. The Kern river is only 21/2 hours away. LOSERS!

ALOT of these tree's and such are here because they adopted new policies to ALLOW the vegitation to grow back. It used to be CONCRETE. Flat concrete. No bike path. No cool "artsy" metal gates. Just CONCRETE. When they first allowed some tree's to grow back, bums would move into the bushes and set up house. Then it would rain in the winter and the bums would get trapped on their little islands. Kinda funny.
