Dear YoungJim409 - The part you are seeing is test sample made from a Pre-preg Carbon resin. We are demonstrating how the ISOMANDREL "which is patented", impacts filament widing using induction. There is more information from Acrolab on the isomandrel on SLIDESHARE. - Regards, Acrolab1

This is a fascinating process. What is the part for? (I mean, if the answer isn't proprietary.)
-
looks like a drive shaft carbon fiber
-
@corotor12345 the answer is yes to your first three questions and for your final question it is used to more effectively manufacture products such as pipes or tubes for many applications.
-
So, in other words... you're enhancing the curing process? Is this carbon fiber? And do you want to mold it into a tube? Or what's the point... are these filaments going to be used to fabricate a woven sheet?
-
@corotor12345 What you are seeing is a heatpipe/thermosyphon augmented mandrel to improve cure quality and to reduce cure time in the thermoset pipe and tube filament winding process.
-
This all looks pretty cool, but what is it exactly?

Very nice! Excellent combination of technology between Acrolab, Ameritherm and McClean Anderson!
Pretty slick operation. You get much off-gassing? Also, I can hear Brad in the background.

@MOLRobocop The outgassing was very limited and assumed to be primarily water vapor.
