  • If we are civilized; If we say we care about people; if we believe that we are a decent society, then we must show it and not mouth it. Don't you realize that when someone turns up at an emergency room without insurance, you and I are now paying the bill? If you don't see it as moral, then see it pragmatically. We are paying NOW in the form of higher premiums passed down to us by insurance co's who, (with great emphasis I say) DON'T CARE! This crisis was created and sustained by naked greed.

  • @phoenixtimes2 Why are we changing the Tax code and creating 100 new bureaucracies instead of just adding these people to the medicaid roles? and if there is so much waste and fraud where is it? why haven't we cut the fat out already, what are they waiting for... a crisis?

"Never let a good crisis go to waste"

States have always had the power to regulate ins. companies. It's not the Gov job to provide health care. How about protecting the border so illegals never get in.

  • @phoenixtimes2

No one is forcing anyone to buy auto insurance. Driving is a choice. Yes, most of the funding projects Gov has dreamed up over the years could be labeled as robbery. I'm done funding this rogue Gov how long will you keep doing it I wonder?

Don't give me that line about poorhouses and the sick. Poor houses have more to do with people who can't afford houses but get them anyway...

  • Whether or not he lies, the fact is that millions are uninsured and we end up paying for them through prices that are set by corporate personnel. Now what do you do with these people? Or are they expendable?

  • Is it unconstitutional to force you to buy auto insurance? Is that robbery? Is it robbery for our tax dollars to pay public defenders for criminals? Is it robbery to fund a war with no end in sight at billions monthly in Iraq? I say law-abiding Americans shouldn't fear the poorhouse because they get sick. If we can provide attorney's to criminals and their numerous appeals, then we can damned well help deserving people. You shouldn't be punished because you get sick. It's immoral.

  • It's Unconstitutional too force people to buy anything. It's like robbery and they will have access to your banking documents what's up with that? Have you read the bill? Robbery, wake up please.

  • They did. In November of 2008. Overwhelmingly. And in great numbers. Nobody should be without health insurance.

  • if it is so popular why not let the people vote?

  • That's so strange, because poll after poll shows they DO. WE do. Wasn't the most recent poll showing 70% supporting a public option? Weird. Also, Democrats ran on a platform of doing just this in 2006 and 2008. That's why they have massive majorities. You personally may not agree with the route they are taking, but your disapproval does not = nationwide, mass disapproval.
