You don't have your facts right.
The idea anonymous going out of their way to get all the information of citizens information is screwed. Their entire ideas are about stopping the violations, not putting irony in their work; though through some recent hacks on the FBI i think, after it went back online there was a list of backed up information, including names, which did get hosted on torrent sites.
So simply, a person(s) decided to blend in to get what they want from sony.

Sony never confirmed credit card numbers were taken, they only said it was possible as a precaution. Also there has not been a single report of credit card fraud in relation to PSN being hacked. Also Anonymous went through a civil war over this fiasco, because anonymous as a whole was only hacking for Denial of Service, which was meant to keep Sony occupied not to steal, but a faction of that group did steal information. The rest of anonymous condemned the faction for its actions.

i own a ps3 plainl because the online multiplayer is free and because it has a blu-ray payer. i dont want to have to pay 60 dollars a year for internet which i already have to pay for. why pay twice for internet?
