  • Hey man, how's it going. Love this vid & the music also. Glad you're getting out.

  • @Lobsterlady2362 Thanks. Im hoping this hurricane didn't foul things up too horribly, guess ill find out in a couple of days. Im afraid it may have ruined the greentail shrimping for this fall.

  • keep on fishing

  • @scurpenin Same to you man, i hope longlining is good for you!

  • @strikenetter

Sold my longline boat in january and fitted a 23' skiff for gillnetting.

One month ago I bought a 32' boat to try a fishing charter business. This season boats here are using a new system setting 50/60 fathoms deep 'n catching lots of sword, but most of them are female with eggs. When we surface setted longlines we didn't catch female (perhaps they swim in deeper water). It's really a shame.

  • @scurpenin What type of fish are you gillnetting? We have similar instances of what you speak of here, but its primarily with blue crabs. We are not allowed to harvest a female blue crab greater than 6 3/4inches in length for reasons of protecting the specie, yet it is lawful to harvest females with eggs under this size limit.

  • Awesome video I really love it.

  • @strikenetter

in this season i'm fishing trammel nets targeting spiny lobster with bycatch of monkfish and a sebastes like fish called "scorfano". In october I'll start gillnetting for breams.

  • @DEEPTHROAT36 can be hard, lot of hours, not to mention the cost of gear and the overhead involved regarding maintenance and fuel. Love it though! No matter how broke i stay, im loving every minute of it.
