I apologize, at the time I wrote that comment my crystal ball wasn't working, but not it is and I see that, if a repbulican had been president, the unemployment rate would be 50%.

So basically, we have to say that Obama brought down the unemployment rate by 40%!!!!

If a republican won the presidential election of 2008 the unemployment rate would be higher,we would still be in a recession, and eventually the economy would drop into a depression.

In this unique situation, only a Democrat could have handled this economic crisis, because Republicans are so stubbornly glued to their primary beliefs.
