My response to people who criticize the tools that non techy marketers choose to use for their sites and blogs.

  • I feel like web designers can be compared to musicians. Some people can play by ear, but sometimes you have to learn how to read the music. Personally, I love Wordpress. I like to take a WordPress theme and morph it into something completely unique with the CSS. Why should I bust my butt learning how to code all the fancy stuff when I can use awesome plugins that other people already created? Nobody can do it all.

  • Exactly devin6687. Let's not lose sight of the ultimate goal, right? And that is to build traffic and make money. So if you can find tools that make life easier in the process why not go for it? And if you are one who can learn all the techy stuff then that's just an added bonus.

  • Hello Lisa,

Very well put. I am a programmer but I've never spurned anyone for what route they choose to go. I think its all good, its just you have your thing and i have mine. If it works for you great, if not hopefully you can learn something from it and grow.

I think that one thing people need to do is just develop a bit of a thick skin and learn to just say talk to the Hand to all the haters.

I think you make some great videos and say some amazing things. Keep up the great work.

  • Thanks damirko. Very well said.

  • Once again... good message.

Personally, myself, I've basically learned by bringing up page sources of websites and trying to study and figure out how and what different types of codes work. Basically self taught to the point where I was able to learn to get across what I wanted to on my own website.

  • That's what I did to learn too!

  • @mrguyonlappy good points

  • yo go girl!

love your videos, thank you so much!

  • LOL well those programmers are probably jealous because they see all these people making money easily with little coding skills. they are like the low paid house builders and the A-marketers are like the high paid real-estate sellers etc . but DON'T FORGET programmers are at a great advantage because they can make things by themselfs so they have low start up cost. most of the people who make millions or billions on the web were programmers facebook, ebay, google, youtube, digg all programmers

  • HAHA, sounds like the programmers are jealous because they can make a site but not sell things on it. LOL

  • I agree with you Lisa. I used to work with programmers most of the time at work. I had to watch my back also which is sad to say. Some programmers tend to think differently than others, but I am thankful for the good programmers out there that do not act "holier than thou."

  • Programming is fun to do if you know what you want to do. Programming isn't for everybody, I like to build stuff from the ground floor with minimum restriction. Programming is not as hard to learn as you think. People tend to take a prejudice view of things because people have told them false things about programming. As they say, you have to do what works for you, but also you don't have to be a top notch programmer, to be able to program.

  • meh, techies are techies, i mean i feel that programers who write in c++ and python are perfectionists, thats why they attack non techies, cuz they lack c++ language, and for web designers and web app designers, i feel that they are people who like to express their digital poetry....
