This shows even if a president has a conscience he will always carry out what the multinationals want. In this case they wanted to destroy Vietnam becouse they feared the a good example populist independant development there would unravel US corporate and power interests in the region.
US multinationals cant enslave the Third World if their governments serve the interests of their people instead of the Empire.

LBJ had no choice about the war because the military contractors who helped put him in office wanted it. Bell Helicopter,Mcdonnel Douglas etc stood to make tons of money.This is why JFK was killed by the CIA/Secret Service

He was seriously misled by bad intelligence. Bundy is "yes'ing" him here. But Bundy and those in the CIA encouraged escalation with their optimism re: US chances of checking communism in the region.
