that looks like a pain to clean.

Thank you 10,000 times over for posting this! The instructions that come with the FNAR sucks. But this video is INVALUABLE as a training aid!
Watching this video almost gave me nightmares about trying to fieldstrip the weapon as it looks very complicated. However, once you have done it a couple of times, it really isn't that hard. Great weapon!

like everyone else thanks for posting this the owners manual sucks big time and didn't give a proper clean procedure in my opinion. but this video made it a lot easier.

Wow! What a beast to clean... but I still want one. I love my FAL but it's not well suited for anything past 400 yards. So I've been eyeing an FNAR. Thanks for posting this. Just the sort of thing a guy needs to know befor dropping a mint on one of these.

Depending on mounting solution, the optics may or may not be affected by removal/remounting. A good quality weaver/picatinny style mounting solution with good quality rings should not be affected at all.
Frankly if you have a semi-auto rifle with an optics setup that does not facilitate easy removal/remounting without any shift of zero then you have a crappy cheap setup that is a problem in and of it's self.

great demonstration ... thanks! Just got a used FNAR and the firing pin & spring fell out of the bolt. Gotta figure out what held it in and why it fell out.

Thanks again for posting this....Problem here: I loaded a 175 gr. a lil too hot and punctured a primer and bloated a case. The case got stuck in my chamber, my bolt wouldnt eject the shell, and after much time I finally got the old case out... Currently the rifle will not extract at all. How do i tear the bolt down further?
not to be a dick or anything, but would you not remove the optics first instead of balancing the rifle on it?

@TargornXelos
I don't think you are a dick at all! just ignorant of high quality firearm components.
If the optics could be affected that easily, then they would be completely useless in
the real world. Besides, removing the optics would require a re-sighting.

@cadmachinist Would you reccomend purchasing a Browning BAR in .308, or one of these FN FNARs? Which would you say is easier to clean?

@RussellClank
The BAR and FNAR are the identical action. The difference is in the weight of the barrel.
Oh, and the FNAR is a "black" rifle ...
