Obama Says Fundamentals of Economy are Sound

On March 13, 2009, President Obama said that the fundamentals of the economy are sound. Where have we heard that before? John McCain said that the fundamentals of the economy are strong in September 2008 and he was excoriated by Obama and the mainstream media at the time.

On Meet the Press, David Gregory pointed out that Obama attacked McCain for his comments saying, "He was out of touch. He didn't get it. He didn't understand how bad the economy was. Yet now the President is talking about the strong fundamentals of the economy. So what's the difference between then, the campaign, and now except for the fact that the economy has got dramatically worse?"

Gregory asked the Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisors, Christina Romer: "Are the fundamentals of this economy sound?"

Romer replied, "Well of course the fundamentals are sound."

If you have to edit out certain parts of Obama's answer so it appears that he might be saying something similar to what McCain said, and then cut off her reply at the end it indicates that you have to engage in that kind of thing to make it appear you have any case at all.

And apparently you don't.

The point of the video is clear, pooh bear. Obama said the fundamentals of the economy are sound after months of criticizing McCain for saying the fundamentals of the economy are strong. That's just rank hypocrisy.
