A film by Albert Wood of Colne in Lancashire (a local conservationist) showing the voluntary work of the local Trout in the Town project - supported by the Wild Trout Trust (www.wildtrout.org). In it we see anglers and wildlife enthusiasts lead by Andy Pritchard of Colne Water Angling Club getting their hands dirty at the front line of habitat protection and restoration work. All the tree branches had arisen from maintenance works in the plantation and were destined for pulping on site. Now they will be used as a soft protective measure to slow the rapid rate of riverbank loss in sensitive areas. They will also provide habitat for invertebrates and fish as well as potential hunting perches for kingfishers and other riverside birds.
