I had to deal the exact same issues that you've described. I rooted my XU using bin4ry's rooting method, flashed INFINITY rom and then got rid of the bloatware. The phone works like a charm now. No lags when multi-tasking, no phone dialer hang-ups. This might be a little too much for an regular user, but head over to xda developers forum to look for guides .

Neither I've installed any heavy app, nor did I install any game. Still this phone doesn't run normally. The service center suggests not to upgrade to ICS. In spite of having an 1 GHz dual core CPU, Xperia U can't run ICS. How the hell Xperia tipo/miro working fine on ICS with 800 MHz processor? And if I have to use the age old GB, why should I buy a phone (with no expandable storage) in 2013 wasting 13000 INR?

(2/3) After swiping the call receiver, an incoming call gets connected after 10-15 seconds. The person on the other side thinks I'm not talking after receiving the call. But actually I can't hear anything for that 10-15 secs. The delay in opening the message box is higher than this.

It run just 2 app at the same time. Suppose, the walkman is on. Meanwhile you get a mail and try to open it. Suddenly the song starts fumbling, the browser gets hung, everything stuck in the middle of nowhere!

(1/3) Hello Mr. Josh, I own a Sony Xperia U ST25i which I bought 2 months back. Initially it was running smoothly with Android 2.3.7 GB. But after upgrading to 4.0.4 ICS, it has become terribly slow!

Most of the time free memory in RAM is 30-40 MB only. Sometimes it even comes down to 15 to 20 MB! What the hell!

Even the basic feature of a mobile phone like phone calls, messaging doesn't work properly on my XU. The phone dialer comes after 15 seconds of tapping the 'phone' icon.
