On May 26, 2007 I was traveling south on Route 9 into the village of Warrensburg NY. My buddy and I had just entered the 35-mph zone when I noticed he was breaking for a car that was backing up and breaking off the shoulder of the road. I reacted slow applying my breaks and subsequently over reacted and locked up my breaks throwing me into the handlebars and causing the bike to fall on my left leg, breaking my left tibia.

I had a point and shoot digital camera clamped to the left side of the bike recording the ride into town. The crash destroyed the optics on the camera but it kept recording sound. The original file is 18 mins long which I cut down to 3 minutes.

  • "OUCH" Brings back memories I didn't want to have come back... I was traveling in the back countries in San Diego and hit a guardrail at 30 mph "Blinded by the sun!" I broke my tibia on the left leg also and went through surgury and now I have a rod in my left leg...

I'm still recovering to this day, I have to go through physical thearapy and all... How's your leg doing? You have to to go through physical thearpy also? How long is it going to be?

  • I shattered the end of my left tibia under the knee. I had a bone graft w/ donor bone (I have dead people in me) and have a plate with eight screws. I did about three months of physical therapy but I still go to the gym 5 days a week and use the elliptical machine. It seems to be paying off as friends and co-works say that my limp is almost gone.

  • great footage. guard rails, dirt, trees, all moving really fast, and then a guy whining.

3 minutes I will never get back...

  • Be happy it was only three minutes... 3 months of my summer and a weeks vacation, I'll never get back.

  • idiot

  • HA HA, idiot.

  • Next time, edit straight to the crash.

  • Sorry for your mishap. I was up there at Americade in early June and traveled the same road. Lots of cars and bikes then and lots of times when things just happen and you have to react. My guess is you slammed on the rear brake and then let go of the brake. That causes a highside over the handlebars. When skidding, just keep the brake on and ride it out. The MSF course teaches this. Best thing is to keep lots of spacing between you and other vehicles when riding.

  • Do you want me to call an ambulance?

No I'll be fine just a broken leg...I can walk it off.

    retard

  • damn Chris! That was hard to listen too. Hope you are doing better.
