Nichelle..oh, Nichelle. I met you once, way back in 1991 at the omni biltmore hotel in providence, Rhode Island. You wouldn't remember me, but i'll never forget you. Your smile lit up the dark, musty convention hall. You were all grace and poise, made of the purest class yet full of humilty. What I love is that one generation past the original air dates of Star Trek TOS, I was able to completely take Uhura for granted as both normal and awesome. She was very much a role model of strength for us white girls, too.

Smart lady! What she had to say was so true. But I'll always be a fan of The Next Generation more than any other series in the Star Trek franchise. It's what I grew up with; the 90s and its TV shows will always hold a special place in my heart. :)
