I've never heard of it before the the routine is the exact same so what is the difference and why would people look down on it? I have three gymnasts. My 9 year old also wears a size 6! She is 48 inches tall and 48 pounds. She is a level 5, my 6 year old is a level 4. Our gym doesn't have a competitive team until 5.

My bad. USAG does offer pre-op as well. More gyms do USAG, hence its more competitive. Prep-op prepares you more for level 7 than level 6. Prep-op, you are allowed to do your own routines on the beam and floor as long as you meet the basic requirements.

USAG is more competitive, they offer TOPs program and offer JO Nationals. USAG awards medals differently while AAU awards more medals to gymnasts. AAU is good to have a taste of gymnastics. Some gymnasts stay with AAU till level 9/10 then test out to USAG level 9/10 to compete at a higher level if they want. Skills are essentially the same, sometimes harder than USAG.
AAU offers a prep optional program which is bet. level 6 and 7 that prepares you for level 7 better than level 6 USAG.

AAU is alternative to USAG. A lot of people look down on AAU, but basically they use the same judges (in both USAG and AAU) and the skills are the same in both. Reflex does both AAU/USAG.

WOW she did AWESOME! Great form and confidence out there!! I love how she is so tiny! The pics of her on the floor were AMAZING too! Can't wait to see more! Is she competing L5 this season?

Thank you! Yes she is tiny, still wears size 6 clothing. My younger daughter is 4 and she wears size 5 clothing! My younger daughter will be bigger than her! :-)
Yes, she is competing L5 this upcoming winter of 2010. How about Olivia?
