Laurie here;-) I was delighted, at first listen to an original music file my good friend Chris sent me some months back. I immediately came up with these lyrics. It was written some time back and is a "rough" draft, but we both think it is too good not to share. In the spirit of Sweethearts Day. At the time it was penned, I had been moving alot of family possessions, and had unearthed alot of memories and even made discoveries, in the process. I found out my Grandmother, my Dad's Mom, was a bit of a songwriter. Found her penned lyrics, written by her hand. This is a song very much based in truth. My Grandfather Lee was gravely wounded in France in WW1. He was taken to a converted Church, and left on the "Dead" side of a ward.....a slight utterance brought him notice, and begged whiskey brought him around. A floating ship where he was taken for medical recovery likely saved him from exposure to the Spanish Flu epidemic. The rest is history. He DID plant at least 60 acres of Oregon soil in Williamette Valley in cherry trees, all planted by hand. The "two little, blue little earrings" is the song I found, written in my Grandmothers hand....For Chris: thankyou for letting me be "Boss"......great things are in store for the future, and I look forward to many more pleasures, such as this shared endevor. The timing of your send of this particular music was like a balm for me, during the hardship and emotional time I had been undergoing, in the epic move, LOL........
Here is the Love Story, behind the lyrics. XOs, Laurie
Nell and Lee
(where the cherries grow)

take my hand
and walk me down
this plowed row
where the cherries grow
hangin' like jewels on the tree
oh look at 'em Lee
you planted that tree
you planted that tree for me.........

they'd laid him in the church yard
said last rites and goodbye
He said mercy Sisters bring me whisky
no it's not my time to die
no no no no, not my time to die
time to die

a fertile land awaits my hand
and a gal named Nell
wants to stay a spell
spend her life with me and raise a family

He won his way to her heart
with the two little blue little earrings
and she cooked her way to his heart
with a cherry pie both sweet and tart
sweet and tart both..........sweet sweet
and tart

Lee loved Nell and Nell loved Lee
they settled on the big old farm you see
He planted 60 acres in the Williamette dirt
an acre just for her, no it could'nt hurt

years went by and he lost his senses
the coop fell down, so'd the fences
she left the farm behind and her man
went to the home for aged
but the love they shared it never ever faded

nor the love they shared nor
the memories and the
scenes in their minds of the dusty lane
and the jewels in the trees and the
holdin' of hands that of Nell and Lee
Nell and Lee

it was a dedicated space for trees just for her
pie cherries are a singular kind like
the sweet faced girl he could'nt get off his mind

she said
take my hand
and walk me down
this plowed row
where the cherries grow

Hi, Chris Speaking,
Well nothing much to say. Only that this version is a rough, but Laurie wanted to upload it like that, so what could I say, when one of your best Friend ask you something it's hard sometimes to say no, LOL. I composed the music one night and record it the same. Sent the music to Laurie and as everytime, the musical file came back, with strong and beautiful lyrics...There is magic in the air... We will do another version of this song, because the sound of the guitar needs more care. But Laurie sings so wonderfuly...
Thanks again for watching and being here.
Peace,
Chris
