I never realized that there was a door leading down to an execution room at the very beginning. I'll have to check that out next time I play.

If you have the german version of Unreal, then you can't find this execution room because it's removed in the german version. The screams, blood and gore etc. are aswell removed in the german version.

In Unreal and Unreal: Return To Na Pali, you play as a Prisoner. The Prisoner has no name so they call him at the very beginning "Prisoner 849". In Unreal 2, you play as a Marine. Hmmm... if you buy Unreal Anthology (2006) then you get Unreal & Unreal: Return To Na Pali, Unreal Tournament, Unreal 2: The Awakening, Unreal Tournament 2004, and a bonus soundtrack CD.

imo its part of its awesomeness when you are exploring the ship and you just hear those screams and roaring .. thinking that behind every corner is hiding something, then you just see flashes of monster with tail running away from you, and then when you get out of ship and encounter first enemies you become realizing its their world not yours and you become even more cautious of world around you,... never played better fps

I found the execution room like 10 years after I first played the game when it was new. :) There are a few other places in the game that I never found back in it's young days, which I now discovered.
