The break-in was statged. Even Filomena said "What a stupid burglar, he left anything with value!", and she found it strange that all the glass was on top of the clothes.

@andersonfinearts Although Meredith WAS outwardly beautiful; I was referring to her inner beauty, as well. Her suitcase filled with chocolates that never reached their destination to her family. Her love of life and learning. Her sense of fun. Her humor... the "beauty" of Meredith's essence that was taken way too soon... but her spirit lives on- that cannot ever be taken.
