Kurt Elling with two long-time musical colleagues; pianist, Laurence Hobgood, and guitarist, John McLean. This was the first song of the performance, "Samurai Cowboy," Kurt's vocalese reworking of a composition by Marc Johnson called "Samurai Hee-Haw" on April 15, 2011 in the KPLU Seattle Studios.

  • Indeed, I've seen him in Holland and he had a wonderful show. This man is amazing and very relaxed on stage. I still have a lot to learn..He has a very good chemistry with his band.

  • I saw Kurt perform this in Budapest a few weeks ago. To put it mildly, the performance was phenomenal...Kurt is the best singer is music today, and -amazingly! - his voice is better live than on studio recordings...Thank you for this video, KPLU!

  • This man has such a tremendous gift. He is vastly under-appreciated I am afraid. His live performances are electric and mesmerizing. His vocal range has to be 4 or 5 octaves.
