As a lifelong Alaskan, I have not only studied the history and issues that have shaped Alaska, I have lived them. From statehood to earthquake to pipeline boom to oil spill to gas line pursuit, I have been an active participant in every chapter. Alaska is my beloved home and its frontier spirit pulses through my veins.

For the past thirty years, I have endeavored to bring the All Alaska Gasline/LNG project to fruition, which I steadfastly believe is Alaskas best hope for securing our economic future. As our prospects for a gas line continue to vaporize, I have felt a growing responsibility to answer a call to leadership.

It is time for Alaskans to start acting like Alaskans and take control of our future. The private sector can be the builder and operator of the gas pipeline: however, the State of Alaska must own the gas line. State ownership of the infrastructure is a win/win for Alaskans, as well as existing and future North Slope gas producers. We already own significant infrastructure in Alaska, such as the railroad and highways, as do the other 49 states. Most LNG projects around the world today are being developed with the government as a majority owner of the infrastructure. They do not wait for someone else to decide when their gas goes to market.

I believe Alaskans are ready for a governor who has the vision, skill, knowledge and courage to lead the state to the completion and operation of the All Alaska Gasline. I am ready to lead that charge. I ask you to join me in this effort. Together, we will get the job done. Together, we will finally bring affordable energy to all Alaskans on our schedule with the economies of scale that come with a project sized for a world market. We will put our people to work, heat our homes and businesses and assure that our children and their children will have the opportunity to call Alaska home.
