Slideshow, images of F/A-18 Hornet and F-5 Tiger swiss airforce planes at Sion Airport Switzerland shot 28 january 2012, Camera Canon EOS 550D. Lens Canon EF 200mm 2.8 L . Music by Rachmaninov, Piano Concerto #2. The airplanes were armed with missiles which is very rare. Usually the swiss airforce planes exercise without missiles here but this was during the Davos WEF and they flew more frequently to secure a no-fly zone around Davos. Sion airport is small and you can watch the airplanes from very very close range. These images were shot with a handheld 200mm lens on a crop DSLR 550D resulting in 320mm equiv focal length, and the huge 18MP images allow you to cropzoom-edit. The noise is dangerously intense at take-off. Protect your ears. When a Hornet F/A-18 takes off and you are on the restaurant terrace just about 100m from the runway, or even less, the ground is shaking, the air is shaking, YOU are shaking. Disclaimer : I don't like war, at all, but I must admit I am fascinated by airplanes and the rocket science. If this video appears like propaganda , then that's colateral .
