Last year (2011), the West Indies wicket keeper Ramdin stumped the Indian batter VVS Laxman during a test match in a similar way. I would say that Alec Stewart was not cheating in this case, but was being crafty. Mind you, I seem to remember Diego Maradona describing his famous 1986 "hand of God" goal in the same way ...

What happened to benefit of the doubt also favoring the batsman? Poor call by the 3rd ump here and WI robbed of a crucial wicket of Lara. You see Stewart whip the bails when he sees Lara starting to shift his weight backwards and hope for a dodgy call.Perhaps he was already aware that the 3rd umpire was angled and exploited this

There is no cheating. This is just a normal play, just that Alec Stewart had to wait for him to go onto/over the line. Heads up cricket and good awareness.
