In this video you can see how to rotate the adjuster, in order to loosen up the shoes and be able to remove the drum. After I replaced my front brake pads, I realized my parking brake wasn't released, and this caused the rear left drum brake to get stuck.
The only way to loosen it up, was by rotating the adjuster.
This is the only video available, where you can really see how the adjuster needs to be rotated, and how to unlock it.

  • @EatThatUpBeatz Where you able to remove it?

  • Don't be scared with my voice guys, I recorded the video on Halloween night lol....at least I'm glad it helped more than a couple of persons.

  • You need to rotate it with the screwdriver, pushing the star wheel down from the screw driver point of view.

  • @alberto02005 Mope, I didnt have short enough screw drivers to get in there :(, I ended up renting a Puller tool from autozone.

  • Your Video really helped me out. I also had a frozen brake drum. I have the Factory Repair Manual for my Toyota, but it was not clear on how to hold the automatic adjusting lever back out of the way. Your video showed me just what to do, and I could then loosen the star wheel adjuster. Thanks very much!

  • thank you

  • viva la mota!

  • 85 chevy truck, i just took off drum and the adjuster was at the bottom. Took another screw driver and lifted up the plate that stops it from going backwards and it worked took all of 10 mins w/taking wheel off. Thanks Creepy voice guy. Lol!
