We decided to do our first test with our cheapest 6mm airsoft gun. Costing £15 on import this TOKYO MARUI spring pistol was a good place to start our tests and get a feel for the testing/filming. We turned the test into a competition to get the best from the shooters. Our further testing will hopefully be better and will have extended targets for longer ranged guns.

As you can see in the film the springer struggles at 37m to hit a head sized target that is much more achievable at 31m. However the gun can take on mansized targets to beyond 40m

  • Why would you shoot a spring pistol at 40m? At the range,it's only going about 15 fps.

At 40m, you should be using a high velocity AEG.

  • because it is a field test, perhaps.

    Good Hunting

  • Is this the HGHU version? Cuz I could of sworn mine can hit stuff at 35+m fairly easily w/ a .25...

  • No, this is the TM 1911a1 as in the title. As you can see, we are firing 0.20g at measured targets and ranges. It is only low powered 22fps and has a fixed HOP UP. Good Hunting ;)

  • 22fps? no.

  • Sorry its a mistype, 220fps is the answer, as shown at the very beginning of the film. Good Hunting ;)

  • Nice vid, interesting presentation. Not that Id use a springer in the field, even a TM one.

  • So do you think it would be a problem shooting prone with a TM G-spec with an upgraded spring? Thanks, now i just gotta find a deal on the G-spec

  • tanaka rifles are often reviewed and said to be quiet. Howvever, if they are firing at high power, they are very very loud. The bolt action is easier to conceal on the tanaka but the G-SPEC is very quiet (if there is background noise). The tanaka hop is very eratic and not a patch on the VSR hop. I have just converted my m40a1 to a VSR hop and barrel. Good Hunting

  • Well i am a DMR currently and ive been thinking of stepping up and trying out sniping. I just really like how silent the bolt is on the tanaka and the performance seems to be quite good also. Im just a little weary of the TM G-spec which is my second option because im not sure how hard the bolt will be to pull back while prone with an upgraded spring. Also is the bolt silent and is the gun relatively quite?
