Set during Japan's Shogun era, this film looks at life in a samurai compound where young warriors are trained in swordfighting. A number of interpersonal conflicts are brewing in the training room, all centering around a handsome young samurai named Sozaburo Kano. The school's stern master can choose to intervene, or to let Kano decide his own path.

I'm sorry to say that you're sorely ignorant of samurai practices. The practice of wakashudo, a superior official taking his young male apprentice as his lover, was common and even EXPECTED amongst the samurai. Homosexual acts were not an "insult to samurais." You've just insulted yourself, though, by making yourself look like a homophobic douche.

Next time, I suggest you make sure you actually know what you're talking about before making stupid comments like this one.

I was curious too, so I did a little research and found that male love existed before and after the samurai period. Apparently, it was a tradition that was held in very high regard. It wasn't just about sex; it was an emotional bond as well. Here's a very good site about it:

    gay-art-history(.)org/gay-history/gay-customs/japan-samurai-male-love/japan-samurai-homosexual-shudo(.)html

  • @roseminty I would like to better understand it myself. Where did this tradition come from. Does it come from ancient origins, or was it something conceived around thew rise of the samurai. Also how is it viewed? Do they just except it because they know they would not be around females for a long time, and they all knew humans have desires?

  • @ultradestruction There's no plural in Japanese, and your grammar is terrible. Before you start trying to learn Japanese, get English down, you should have typed:

Samurai who were gay were an insult to the Samurai, and should've been beheaded.

real Samurai looked at their geisha women, and were not gay; having gay sex with men.

Also, geisha women were in theatres, Samurai rarely married them. You should not be so unwilling to accept people for who they are, it just makes you look stupid.
