How do you know which kind of eye glasses to look for? Which style will be more comfortable? How do I adjust my frames to fit my head? We try to answer all these questions and more in this video. Jas. Townsend and Son carries four different styles of period eyewear. You will get to see all of them up close.

  • @hellbilly075 An early form of 'sunglasses' were invented in the mid-18th century by James Ayscough. However the tinted lenses were though to correct vision, not protect from the sun. Google his name for more information

  • Is there any documentation for sun glasses in the 1770s? I cant get by without sunglasses. If so what colors are correct YMH&OS...

  • The looped temple bars can also be fitted with silk ribbon to wrap about the crown when at home and wearing your house cap and not the wig.

Do you also have your glasses with reading magnification? I use 1.5 mag. to read.

  • I'll be stopping by in the morning to buy two pairs!

  • I dont even buy modern frames any more. I wear frames provided by you and I wear corrective lenses all day every day. Cant see very clear with out them. Not completely blind mind you. But thanks lots!

  • Thanks for making this video! I just adjusted my late 19th C. glasses now by bending back on the cables. I was afraid to do so but now they feel much better! Thanks.
