@Electricearlobe Sure, it can stand its own when compared to PS (in some cases) but I don't think that clients/companies would take me seriously if I told them that I strictly used Gimp. You know?

@jamgrieve if you has said you were getting a job in printed media, working with film or even working with HDR Photos I could have accepted the statement, but WEB Design. Sorry, that is just rubbish Gimp is fully capable of dealing with graphics for the web.

I'm starting to hate Gimp. I used to use it as an alternative to PS but now that I'm looking to get a job in web design, its just not a practical tool.

@aj19bcx hit file open, close it, then restart it, and that worked for me...

does anyone know how to make gimpshop not crash every single time you click file new?
-
@philman401 or for those that have Linux installed and dont want to run PS in wine

@MikuMikuBeat Yeah i've the same profile problem. However you can try to use the plugin Separate + that converts the profile to CMYK, or you can simply import your works on Scribus and export them for typography ;)

I have Photoshop for my Graphic Design course, but before I got it I preferred Paint.net to anything with Gimp in the title. Even PS loads faster than they did for me.
Otherwise the one crucial thing Gimp still lacks, is the ability to edit in CMYK mode. Industry professionals NEED this for certain jobs, and college professors sometimes ask for images to be edited in it specifically as part of an assignment.

@TheFri13 "Neither you can not use virtualdesktops or multiple monitors"
Expands to; 'Not either can you not use virtualdesktops or multiple monitors'
Removing the double negative yields; 'either you can use virtualdesktops or multiple monitors'.
Which, in my opinion, is easier to comprehend.. what do you think?

i'm a band logo designer and i use Gimp,
And i also do photo manipulation and editing on,
i think its gonna go really far. you dont need PS to do what i do.
lol who cares, this isn't a video about what's better. It's about a tool alternate to photoshop for those users who cannot afford photoshop or do not want to get it illegally.

GIMP will always be better.
They just need to make their interface more flexible.
