I've read and been told that the Benchmade Model 710 is difficult to impossible to open with gloves on. So, I put this theory to the test and I really can't see where this conclusion would come from. It opens quite easily with my gloves on. I haven't tried with more, I guess you could say, winter insulated gloves but I do think it would be about as easy. Aside from this, the video also demonstrates the Axis locking system. I personally came to love it after several years of "iffy" feelings towards it.

  • I just got a 710..and the action is NOWHERE near that smooth/silky/fast. How long have you had that knife and did you loosen the pivot screw any? Will that action come with time/use?

  • @henfrys101

It was a little stiff when I first got mine two. I adjusted the pivot slightly, very slightly.

Lubed it, and it is what it is.

  • @DasBulk Thanks for that - what lube do you use? I got a bottle of miltec, but I'm worried about it being a little liquidy for edc

  • @henfrys101 Usually Tuff Glide.

  • Action is FAST - is this example assisted?

I find mine is much more natural to open when I push forward instead of out on the stud, but then again, I've discovered the 'Axis flick' as you have.

  • Nope. I don't think BM produced an assisted knife before the Barrage. I could be wrong though.
